ALEXANDER KELLAS or HAY
Posted by: Helen Miller (ID *****9855) Date: January 10, 2009 at 17:19:20
  of 1709

Born Alexander Kellas, 1875 in Dyce, Aberdeenshire. Mother Mary Hay and father Alexander Kellas, fisherman both signed the birth certificate but were not married. Alexander is last found 1891 age 15 living with his mother Mary Hay, is a scholar. He is not found in 1901 census nor am I able to get a death certificate in Scotland for him.

Could this be the same man as the passenger, Alex HAY, Gardener age 20 arriving in Boston 1896 who said he was going to his uncle George M Hay in Haverport, PA? Alexander Kellas did have an uncle just 9 years his senior, George Milne Hay who had come to the US 1888 but believed in CT not PA. They probably grew up more as brothers rather than uncle and nephew.

Does anyone have any information?
Thanks,
Helen Miller
