Thanks for the kind words, but I'm not an expert on the HAY family of Bedford Co. I just have some resources and helpful correspondents. For background, there is a booklet prepared by David Robert HAY, Somerset, PA, 1983, on Simon HAY. He credits Dr. Richard HOH of Switzerland & Otto MULLER & Sibylle BRENGEL of Gerhardsbrunn, Germany. Mr. MULLER compiled a history of Gerhardsbrunn, and Ms. BRENGEL & Dr. HOH translated. All four of the above are descendants of Simon, b. 21 Oct. 1682, Hoheinod, about ten kilometers southeast of Gerhardsbrunn, Sickinger Hohe, Palatinate. Simon was grandfather of the immigrant Simon HAY. There was a Hans HOH of Gerhardsbrunn by 1600, possibly an ancestor of the Simons. About 1635, the village was burned during the thirty-year war, and the families that survived went to the Netherlands for asylum. Prince Franz von Sickinger and some families returned to the vicinity about 1669. Simon HOH / HAY helped with a major rebuilding of the village about 1700.
