Circa 1920s photo of Matilda Louella Haworth (1895-1990)
I recently purchased an album containing the subject undated studio portrait of a young woman.
It is identified across the front, evidently in the subject's handwriting:
"Lots of love
Matilda L. Haworth"
An accompanying handwritten index identifies her as:
"30. Matilda"
I found this individual listed in a public member tree posted on ancestry.com.She is listed in the U.S. Census data for 1910, Long Beach (resided on Coronado Avenue), Los Angeles Co., CA; and the U.S. Census data for 1920, Long Beach (resided at 3009 E. Tenth Street), Los Angeles Co., CA.She appears in the "Social Security Death Index" and the "California Death Index, 1940-1997" on ancestry.com (last residence was at 12151 Dale Ave. Apt. C110, Stanton, CA).Her photo appears in a newspaper article entitled "First Friends Church, Fourth Oldest in City, Celebrates 70th Anniversary," the Long Beach Independent, dated 14 Jun 1962.She appears on three ship passenger lists as follows:
"Ecuador" departing San Jose de Guatemala, Guatemala, and arriving San Francisco, California on 18 Nov 1921.
"Suriname" departing Puerto Barrios, Guatemala, and arriving New Orleans, Louisiana on 24 Feb 1926 (she resided at 1400 Coronado Ave., Long Beach, CA)
"Toloa" departing Puerto Barrios, Guatemala, and arriving New Orleans, Louisiana on 8 May 1946 (she resided at 1887 America Ave., Long Beach, CA)
Matilda Louella Haworth, born 25 Feb 1895 in Galena, Cherokee Co., KS, died 27 Dec 1990 in Orange Co., CA, was the daughter of Alvah Haworth (1860-1926) and Luella Stanley (1863-1945).She was employed as a missionary with the Friends Church.
