My husbands gggrandfather was Cyrus Benjamin Hawley. We know he came from Fishfill, NY. Cyrus settled in McMinnville Or.and ran a dairy farm. His ggrandson Sheldon moved to Sacramento, CA in the late 1800's. There is a great deal of Hawley history in Oregon. Have no knowledge of Cyrus mining in the Nevada City area, but could be another relative. You may want to check out the Joseph Hawley tree. We believe our Cyrus is part of that tree, which is quite large. Ron's sister, Norma Jean, lived in Grass Valley for many years, so we are familar with your area. We live in San Jose, CA.
