I am one of a group working on an official history of the Wisconsin 23rd Regiment . One of our men was Thomas Hawley
Residence Berry WI;
Enlisted on 8/15/1862 as a Private.
On 8/15/1862 he mustered into "E" Co. WI 23rd Infantry
He was transferred out on 10/7/1864
On 10/7/1864 he transferred into Veteran Reserve Corps
He was Mustered Out on 5/28/1865
Another Thomas Hawley
Residence was not listed;
Enlisted on 8/21/1862 as a Private.
On 8/21/1862 he mustered into WI 3rd Light Artillery
He died a POW on 8/28/1864 at Andersonville, GA
He was listed as:
* POW 9/19/1863 Chickamauga, GA
We are concerned only with the Thomas who enlisted in the 23rd. Our Thomas survived the war and was living at Dell Rapids, Dakota in 1889.
This is all the information we have. If you can help us fill in any of our blanks we would be grateful.
