Mars Hill - Hawksley family origins - new info

Alrighty... A visit to the New England Historic Genealogical Society to view the Isaac Adams papers in the R. Stanton Avery Collection gave me some new info to share!

Mary Goodwin married a Hawksley (an Englishman). Their children were:

John Goodwin
Sarah Brown
Margaret Elizabeth

John married Lucy Lilley
Mary - no info
Sarah married John Wellington Adams
Margaret married Isaac Benjamin Adams

John Wellington Adams and Isaac Benjamin Adams are brothers.

Mary Goodwin's father was a loyalist from New Jersey, whose plantation there was confiscated. He brought his family to St. John, New Brunswick and served the British until the end of the war.

Mary Goodwin's mother's maiden name was Workman, and she entreated her husband not to go to war - she sympathized with the Americans - but to no avail.

Mr. Hawksley died (I do not know when), and then Mary married her 2nd husband - William Madigan - and they had a daughter, Isabell Madigan.

Greater details coming when I post my updated family tree to Rootsweb. :-)
