I would like to correct the Hopkins name in paragraph five and in the 1736 posting.John Hopkins should be Joseph Hopkins.
I have found a third identical signature of John Hawkins of Abbeville that ties him with John Hawkins, Jr.'s inventory in Baltimore County, with a NC deed, and with his will in Abbeville, SC.
1790, July 13, "John Hawkins [3rd] of the County of Abbeville and the State of South Carolina" gives his son "Matthew Hawkins of the County of Lincoln and the State of North Carolina" land. The signature mark is the same as on his father, John [Jr's], inventory and his own will.At the same time he also gave his son, James, land in a deed.
