I am looking for any info on line of Meredith Hawkins born abt 1802 South Carolina (per 1850 Jefferson, Illinois census) He married a Martha mnu probably in 1820's ( They had children Richard V, Hulda Marie, Dorothy Francis and Benjamin born in Smith, Tn in late 1820's and early 1830's. Family is listed on 1830 census, and 1837 Taxpayers Smith TN . I am unable to find them on 1840 census. They were in Jefferson, Ill by 1847 when Richard V married Elizabeth Warren. Meredith died in jefferson Ill in 1853 Who are parents of Meredith and Martha? I am at a deadend. I know many used their middle names so that may be hindering my search My gr gr grandfather was James Meredith, so may be a family name ( he was Richard V's son) I would be deeply indebted for any help on the right path to take. I am trying to work on this info for my grandmother, who is going to be 96 this summer
