Dorothy Leigh Hawkins Shields, 85, of Jefferson City, TN,
entered this life Aug. 28, 1923, and left for eternal rest
Thursday, March 19, 2009.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Clifford
Shields; mother, Biddie A. Hawkins; sisters, Pauline
Jackson and Julia Blevins; and brother, James Hawkins, SR.
She leaves to cherish her memories, daughters, Sheila
Treece and Jean Batts of Jefferson City, TN; grandchildren,
James Andre (Julia) Batts of Morristown, TN, Jennifer
(David) Warneck of Nashville, TN, and Chris (Heather)
Treece of Knoxville, TN; great-grandchildren, Jordan and
Kianna Batts, and Zander Brown Treece; sister-in-law,
Thelma Roberts; special son, James Jennings; several
nieces, nephews, and friends; and special friends, Mary
and Harry Phipps Jr.
A very special thanks to Dr. Emmett Manley for years of
gentle care, to Dr. Mike Ayers for his care and support
and to the nurses and stay staff at Jefferson Memorial
Hospital and Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center ICU.
The family will receive friends 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday
prior to the service at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 21,
2009, at Fielden Chapel with Pastor Roy Charles officiating.
Interment will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 23, 2009, in
Russellville Cemetery.
Arrangements by Fielden Funeral Home in New Market.
