My connection to the Hawkins name is rather circumspect. But I will pass it on in case any of the names connect.
*My husbands gr-gr-grandfather was named Charlie Hawkins Brown. (b.1846 in Winchester, Frederick Co., VA)
*Charlie Hawkins Brown was the son of William Hite (Hight/Hiatt)Brown(b.1814 VA) and Elizabeth (Betsy) Fuller(b.1818 VA)
*William Hite Brown was the son of Thomas Brown (b.1768 PA) and Sarah Williams (b.abt. 1789 Frederick Co., VA)
Now in the 1850 Stephensburg, Frederick Co., VA Census we find Thomas Brown (b. 1768 in PA) and family. Thomas is a weaver.
In District 16, Frederick Co., VA we find *Ephraim Hawkins (b 1790 in PA)and family. He is a wagon maker. Next door is *Charles Hawkins age 27, toll gatherer, b. in VA. along with his wife Rebecca and dau. Margaret age 1.
This Charlie Hawkins appears to be the second son of Ephraim Hawkins.
In the 1880 Census for Gainesboro, Frederick Co., VA. we find these families living next to each other.
James H. Longacre (occupation, miller) whose wife is Sarah A Brown (daughter of Thomas and Sarah Williams Brown above)
Next door is a James W Pine (who I believe was a son of one of Thomas and Sarah Williams Brown's daughter Susan who married into the Pine family) and living with the Pine's is Charlie Hawkins, age 45, occupation wagon maker. (right age to be Ephraims son)
Now your Ephraim and Elizabeth Price Hawkins also had a son, *Owen Hawkins (b. 1827 in VA) who married a *Nancy C. Fuller. (b. 1830 in VA).
And of course, (see above), My William Brown married Elizabeth Fuller.
I know it's all circumstantial, but you find all these folks grouped together in the census's for Frederick Co. VA. With the craftsmen and manufacturers. (Weavers, Millers, wagonmakers, etc)Ephraim Hawkins and Thomas Brown could have known each other in PA, they were probably Quakers.
There has to be a reason why the Wm Brown's named a son Charlie Hawkins Brown.
Charlie Hawkins could have been a godfather, childhood friend, best friend, neighbor, brother-in-law, cousin-in-law.....I don't know, to Wm Brown. It is just too much of a coinsidence to find all these people with these names living side by side census after census.
So as you see, my interest is in the Hawkins, Fuller, Williams, and Brown families living in Frederick Co., Va. through the 1800's.
Thanks for any help.susan
