Hopefully, you have made progress on your Hawkins/Muse line. I'm sorry I just now saw your posting as I began to look for the surname Hawkins those I note that it was posted nearly a year ago.
In our line we have a Mary Elisabeth Williams b 1822 d 1843 who married a Dr. Peter M. Hawkins. Somewhere, perhaps a book on the Alston family, I found that she had 9 children though I find that hard to believe if she married at 15 years old, then she would only have 6 years too produce all those children! The only child that I have the name of is Thomas Hawkins.
Mary Elisabeth was the daughter of Joseph John "Jack" Williams III who married Mary Kearney Davis. Her grandfather was Joseph John williams Jr. (grandson of Samuel Wiliams and Elisabeth Alston)who maried Elisabeth "Bettie" Norfleet Hunter Williams. "Bettie" is daughter of Elisha Williams and Sarah Josey of NC.
I note that many of the names that you've mentioned in your message also pop up in our family line later on. Those such as Chambers and West. Wondering if there might be a connection?
The grandparents (of Mary Williams), Joseph John Williams Jr. and Elisabeth "Bettie" Norfleet Hunter Williams were born in NC but died in Clark Co, AL. Their marriage was 4 Feb 1797, NC, probably in Warren Co. or Franklin Co. as that was where they were living at the time.
The rest of"Betti's" family moved to Nashville, TN. I have most everything forward from that point regarding her line, and some of Joseph John Williams Jr.'s line....but know nothing more on the granddaughter Mary Elisabth Williams who married Dr. Peter M. Hawkins.
Let me know if you see a connection or you know of this particular Hawkins? THANKS.
Gerri Williams
