Hi Lisa,
I did locate B. HAWKINS and his name was Ben born abt. 1841 GA, he was found in 1920 Jackson County, 1900 Jackson County, 1880 Madison County, and 1870 Chatham County at Savannah, first wife's name was Amanda or Manda born abt. 1847. He also was located in the Freedman's Bank Records, father Washington and mother Aga
Thomas HAWKINS born about 1842 may be brother to Ben HAWKINS...Thomas's wife is Polly born abt. 1841, at least 3 of them born in slavery: Dinnah b. 1861, Lissa b. 1864, Lititia b.1865, Alice b. 1867, Wiley b. 1868, Thomas Jr. b. 1869
I have found only one possible slave owner Thomas HAWKINS born abt. 1812, wife Matilda who lived in Lexington, Oglethorpe County, where Thomas is listed on the 1860 Slave Schedule...if you know any other possibles thanks for any help!
Vera
