First let me say I wish I could take credit for all the new information I have on Martin, but LaVelda Faull is a brillent researcher, much better than me, and found most of this.
Elizabeth, Martin's wife was originally Elizabeth Musgrove, she married Thomas Glass in Warren Co., KY in 1821, Jacob is her son by her first marriage. The Musgroves in their home on the 1860 census are Elizabeth's parents.Elizabeth married John Penner in 1832in Warren Co., KY and then in 1834 she married Martin Hawks.
I have been driving myself crazy trying to discover who the Shipley's are.I have searched all of Edmonson Co., for them in 1870, along with butler, barren and Hopkins.Any information you have on the Shipley's would be greatly appreciated.I would love to know where they were in 1870.
I now know that Martin is the grandson of William Hawks and Rebecca Laffoon from Green Co., KY.
Elizabeth that was in the house with Martin and his wife in Hopkins Co, KY 1850 census is his daughter by Ann or Anna Dobson as is Mary Hawks and son Jeremiah Hawks.
Other census they appear on are:
See White Co., TN census 1830 for Martin, Archibald, Joseph, Drury Hawks. On ancestry there last name is transcribed as Hawker, but spelled Hawkes.
Yes I've been to Hawks Hill Cemetary and am getting ready to do a follow-up transcription for the Edmonson Co genweb.I told Bill I would do Wingfeild first.Yes I am aware of the Hawks reunion in Edmonson Co.it will be in Oct.
