I have managed to collate the following information.
1) My gggggGrandfather was JOHN HAWKES born in Coventry and married JANE HEMMING in 1812. I don't know when they were born though. Their children were WILLIAM (1813) Mary Anne (1823) Maria (1815) Joseph (1828) and Sarah (1831).
2)WILLIAM (1813) married ELIZA WALTERS (1810) in Birmingham in 1833. Their children were William (1834-1894) THOMAS (1839) Clara (1839) John Samuel (1839) and Sedan?
[3)William (1834) married Mary Best (1834-1894). Their
children were Frederick William (1860-1931) Walter Thomas
(1862-1913) Hannah. Ruth, Mary, Clara Ada and William
Thomas.]
3)THOMAS (1839) married JANE PRITCHARD (1839-1873) Their children were George Henry (1860) Jane (1861-1884) Thomas Samuel (1864-1878) William (1866) Selina (1868) JOHN JAMES (1869) Mary (1870-1898) Arthur (1874)
4)JOHN JAMES (1869) married Rose Mosely (1875-1950) Their children were Rose (1869) JOHN JAMES (1897-1979) and Mabel (1899).
5)JOHN JAMES (1897) married Lillian Maud Turner (1901-1957) Their children were Ivy (1924-1995) Gwen (1926) Phyllis (1926) and JOHN JAMES (1930)
From 1813 the family was in Birmingham THOMAS (1839) and JOHN JAMES (1869) were gunsmiths. In 1900 they moved to London Enfield and from 1930 at least they were in Suffolk.
This is a brief portion of the information i have collected. If anyone thinks they are related please post a followup or if they have any new information, especially if they are able to extend the line back into the 1700's and beyond.
