My John was born about 1805.We have no record of the family being in IL or OH, but the given names of the two families are, for the most part, the same, which leads me to wonder if the families are related in some way.
If it helps any we have numerous males named George Washington Hawk going way back and up to and including my grandfather and great-grandfather with the name spelling changed to Hock.
I had seen this Margaret Groves associated with a John Hawk and checked it out.Nothing matched except the names. However, we don't know who our Jacob Hawk's (b 1780) parents or siblings were. This might be a relation that moved in a different direction.
Any thoughts?
Vicki
