Tamar Budd married (Dr.) Ebenezer Haviland 18 Jan 1765. I believe he is the son of Ebenezer Haviland and Phebe Cornell, and is the Dr. E. Haviland who was nominated to be head of a Fair in Rye. Who were her parents? Tamar (Budd) Haviland was a widowed during the Revolutionary War, and she ran Haviland's Inn in Rye, NY, now known as the "Square House". Tamar (Budd) Haviland was said to have lived to a very old age. Tamar Haviland is buried in the Apoquague Friends’ Meeting Burial Grounds, Dutchess, NY. Haviland, Tamar d. 1836, a. 90 y. Apparently, she did not remarry, as she appears on the 1790 census in Rye as a head of household, with 1 male over 16 and 3 females. Her entry is between Jesse Hunt and Daniel Strang. She is likely a descendant of Joseph Budd (died 1722) and Sarah Underhill. Does anyone know who this Tamar Budd's parents were? See this site about Haviland's Inn, called the Square House in Rye www.oldandsold.com/articles16/new-england-roads-19.shtml Notify Administrator about this message?
