Great to see the "HAVER" forum up and running!

Looking for info on the parents and/or siblings of Carl H. William Hafer, born 11 Jan 1839 in Germany (Prussia?). He came from the section of Germany in the southwest, not far from France, across the border from Alsace-Lorraine.

Also interested in info on the Prussian Empire. Carl was a palace guard. I have two military medals (dated 1866 and 1870/1871) with German on them. If anyone can help translate, please send an e-mail to me.

Carl Hafer m. Anna Maria Dorothea Fischer on 05 June 1865. Anna was b. 20 Feb 1841 in Lavern, Westfahlia (Westfahlien?) Germany. Is this near the Belgium border?

Carl, Anna and their 4 children (Minnie, Lizzie, Dora, Fritz) came to the U.S. in 1881. At the time, the name was changed to HAVER. The family lived in Iowa for awhile and then settled in Omaha, Nebraska.

Will share info on Carl and Anna's descendants. Thanks for your time!
