Hi,
With well documented sources, I'm able to trace a branch of my paternal line backwards from myself through
my great grandmother Laura M Haven (b 23Sep1883)
to her father Charley Havens (b 16Dec1847)
and grandfather Charles Havens (b 24 Mar 1823, married Margaret Brown somewhere on the east coast).
It was this Charles, the senior, who traveled west in 1858 with wife and family (oldest was daughter Laura A Haven + son, Charles) and settled in Wisconsin.I've a Milwaukee Journal newspaper clipping interviewing Laura A Haven and she relates a few bits and pieces of the trip, but no mention is made of the proposed connection to her would-be grandparents, Jacob and Catherine.
A compendium titled "Adams County Genealogical Sketches", transcribed by J.T. Elderkin, provided me the name of Jacob Haven and Catherine Streeter, Charles' (senior) parents, but I've been unable to locate other more reliable sources that list Jacob and Charles together as a family unit. This would clinch the line's connection for me.
Many thanks for your thoughtful review and any help you may be able to provide! An earlier direct email doesn't seem to have made it to you.
