Hauskins Family Genealogy Forum

In 1880, in a Norway area known as Rennes Island, a man by the name of Ole Hanson passed away. Having been a fisherman and blacksmith, he had a sizable family. This included 13 children, and eight of them boys.
One of these was Sam Hanson who changed his name to Hauskins near the time of his arrival to the United States, (possibly in Nevada, Iowa). Other brothers took the name of Hausken. Reasons for the changing of names was to keep the mail straight as there were too many Hansons in the area and mixups were common. Sam (Hanson) Hauskins married Mary Almy. One of their sons was Orville, being my wife's grandfather. That's our story. If you can relate more information on these folks, please e-mail me.
