I am looking for information on Valentine H. Haun who lived for a while in Clark County, Illinois and was married to Rachel who died in 1879. I believe his parents were Daniel and Susannah Haun. Below are a couple newspaper clippings.

HAUN, Daniel died in Wabash Township on Wednesday morning last of blight's disease, he was 77 years, 7 months and 3 days of age. He is a native of Charter County, Tennessee where in March 1833 he married Susannah Vanhuss and arrived here in Clark County in 1858. Daniel leaves his wife and 7 living children. February 26, 1878, Tuesday, page 5

HAUN, Rachel wife of Valentine H. Haun died on July 8, from typhoid fever. She was born on July 2, 1847 and was married on November 3, 1874. July 15, 1879, Tuesday, page 4

Legend has it he was a scout for Lewis & Clark or George Rogers Clark.

Thanks.

Carolyn Stephens
