I found Emaline!!! and yes we are cousins, very distant ones, lol. Emaline Haun was the daughter of Nathan Haun born 1810 in Missouri and Bathsheba Allen. I don't know a lot about this couple as I am not descended from them but I would like to know more about them.
Nathan was the son of John Haun born 1770 and died Feb 1846 in Jackson County, Missouri and his wife Molly. Molly's last name is not known at this time. I am descended from another son of John and Molly (Nathan's older brother) Peter Haun born 1793 in Ohio.
Peter died March 20, 1873 in Saratoga, Santa Clara, California. Peter Haun married Jane Moody on Aug 27, 1818 in St. Charles County, Missouri. I am descended from their son Zimiriah Haun, Emaline's first cousin. Zimiriah was born April 10, 1822 in Jackson County, Missouri. He died in Los Banos, California before 1889.
But, he would have known Emaline. Emaline and Caleb Crews lived in Gilroy, California in 1880 according to the census for that year. Although Zimiriah never lived in Gilroy, instead making his home in nearby Los Banos, several of his children did live in Gilroy as well as San Jose. One of those children was John Henry Haun, born Sept 4, 1849 in Weston, Platte, Missouri. His wife was Lydia Jane Fisher who grew up in Gilroy, they were married there on March 28, 1875 and John built a house there in Church street that is still standing today. All of the children of John and Lydia were born in Gilroy from 1876 to 1895. Emaline would have been a close cousin to the family in this small town and so they all would have been close and probably would have attended each others weddings, funerals, and other reunions or events. To this day my great-aunt Rosella Simmons, great-grandaughter of John and Lydia Haun, lives in Morgan Hill, the town right next to Gilroy.
So welcome cuz !! glad to have you in the family tree :). How exactly are you connected to the family? I know of course that you are a descendant of Emaline and Calben Crews.
