Sorry for the delay. Missed you in the Haughtons. Charles is the youngest son of David(1724) and Ann Horton/Haughton of Wake Co, NC. In his 1784 will David names his children and Charles, the youngest receives his plantation. David is the son of Joseph (1700)Horton of Nansemond Co, VA and Granville Co, NC. Joseph is the son of Daniel and Martha Timms Horton of England and Nansemond Co, VA. You will find references on the internet that place David in the Barnabus Horton, Southhold Long Island line, from the 2 Horton books, but I believe that genealogy has been effectively discredited over the years. Charles is listed as Horton in most references until the 1870 census when it is Haughton.
