Haug family from Hockenheim, Germany
My father Edward Haug has most of our family's genealogical papers from the time that our family arrived here from Hockenheim in the mid 19th century. Here is what I know, in a nutshell:
Jacob(Jakob?) and Magdelena Haug arrived in America first from Hockenheim, Germany. They settled in Ohio. There was a son named Tobias who died around the Civil War period, from tuberculosis. The family eventually came to SE Wisconsin, where we still are. Towns/cities in WI that we are connected to are: Wayne, Kewaskum, and now, West Bend. In my family in the SE Wisconsin area were several Haug patriarchs, including a Christopher, Peter, and Carroll Haug. Carroll and Rosemary had several children: Peter, Sharon, Tom, DJ(Donald), Ginger, Edward(my dad), Rick, and Phillip(deceased in a roofing accident in late 1980s). My grandfather Carroll Haug owned Haug Roofing in West Bend, WI, until passing the company to my uncle Thomas(Tom).
I'm sorry to post my family history here, but I was really wondering if anyone here has any knowledge of Wisconsin Haugs or Hockenheim Haugs. I am very curious to know if I have any Norwegian heritage, or if the Haugs that I am descended from are mostly German. Thanks.
