Richard Eugene Hauck Sr.

COPPERAS COVE ? Services for retired Master Sgt. Richard Eugene Hauck Sr., 55, will be at 11 a.m. today at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Copperas Cove with the Rev. Barry Cabell officiating.

Burial will follow at Copperas Cove City Cemetery.

Hauck died March 13, 2004, at his residence.

He was born May 13, 1948, in Cleveland, Ohio, where he was raised and educated.

Hauck served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1969 to 1973. He joined the U.S. Army in 1976 and served until 1994 when he retired.

His military awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal with three oak leaf cluster, the Army Achievement Medal with an oak leaf cluster, the Army Good Conduct Medal fifth award, the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Award with an oak leaf cluster, the Non-commissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon with numeral 3, the Army Service Ribbon and the Overseas Service Ribbon.

He worked for seven years with the Copperas Cove Independent School District as a teacher's aid. He also worked at Wood Psychiatric Hospital in Killeen, the Marydale/Achievement Center in Liberty Hill, Capitol Transit and J&E Construction Co.

Hauck was a foster parent for more than 20 years.

He attended Central Texas College and the University of Maryland.

He had lived in Copperas Cove for 13 years and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his wife, Jane Hauck of Copperas Cove; two sons, Richard Hauck Jr. of Troy and Erik Hauck of Austin; four daughters, Brenda Kolar of Soperton, Ga., Britney Hauck of Waco and Kristin Hauck and Caycee Hauck, both of Copperas Cove; his mother, Shirley Wohlford of Akron, Ohio; two sisters, Sharon Szoradi of Cleveland and Mary Ann Szoradi of Fairview, Ohio; and three grandchildren.

Hauck was preceded in death by a son, Peter Hauck; and a brother, Wayne E. Hauck.
