Hi
I am going to assume that this type of work is new to you.So here are some general rules to follow to help you get started.
First,Talk to every older relative you have.Write down anything they say about your family, even if it sounds trivial. Then ask them more questions.
Second, check out county court houses where you family has lived for vital records (birth, death, marraige).Once you get back to the ancestors that came over find out where they lived in the USA and then look for naturalization papers.
Third,Once you have enough data to know who lived where, check out the nearest Mormon Family History Center. They have the largest genealogical database in the world and you do not have to be a Mormon to use it.
Last, the name Hauck is rather common in Germany, especially in the south. So you and I are probably not related.Besides my roots are in Wisconsin not, Michigan.
If you like mysteries, this is a great hobby, however there is alot of work involved, especially if you plan on going way back.
I hope this helped.
Thanks
Tim Hauck
