I am researching a James E. Hathhorn. I am so lost with all the different spellings. All I know is for sure the HARDCASTLEs are related to a James E. Hathhorn from Pike and Butler Co., AL, probably brother of their mother, Narcissa. I have a land record with him on Eli's Pike Co. deed of sale, 1861. Plus he was on the 1840 Butler Co., AL census with James Hardcastle and I thought also on 1830 Pike Co., AL but you show yours married to Sarah and born in AL. I found a James E. Hathhorn that I think is the same on 1850 Butler Co., AL census married to Leonna (b1803,NC) b. 1804 in GA with children, Nancy, John, James, Willliam, George, Elias, Reuben, Jasper?, Eliza. I am almost positive this is the one I am related to because of the children's names. Is this the same line as yours married to Sarah? I also know he must be related to a Joshua Hathhorn because James, Eli Hardcastle and Joshua all got land warrants the same day at Cahaba 2/2/1852. I think he must also be the one in Natchitoches, LA in 1860/1861. Please help!! Thanks, Kelly Hardcastle-Kerr (kkaela@aol.com)
