Hathcock connections from Tennessee
Hi fellow researchers...
I just wanted to touch base here and give what information I have acquired over the past few years. My line is from Nancy E. Hathcock of Coffee, Tennessee who married James L. Butler in 1869, Coffee Tennessee. Her parents, Howell P. Hathcock and Louisa (gleaned information states she was a full blood Cherokee Indian from Cherokee Nation in Georgia).Nancy and James left 7 orphaned children in the early 1890's, one being my great grandfather, Miles Neeley Butler. The children were supposedly "farmed" out to an uncle, Miles Neeley Hathcock... then when the sister, Mary, married, or became of age, she took them in. Many of the stories I have come across are family stories and I have not proven them or disproved them..however, among the family memebers, the stories do seem to connect accordingly.I would like to correspond with anyone else in this line.My email is [email protected] have the family in the 1820, 1830, 1840, 1850, 1860, 1870, 1880 census... beyond that, I cannot find them in the 1900 census. If anyone else knows, I would love to know where my great grandfather, Miles Butler was in 1900.In the latter part of 1900, after the census and before 1901, Miles married Hattie Sims in Texas.I have a photo of Hattie on her wedding day, 1900... with no specific date.In 1910, Hattie Butler is living with her mother, sister, and four of her children, but no Miles Butler with her... I would like to know where he was then.I do find them in the 1920 and 1930 census.Miles Neeley Butler was most likely named for his uncle, Miles Neeley Hathcock. The Butlers and Hathcocks seemed to have ran in circles together in Coffee County, and maybe Warren County, Tennessee.
