Feuding Hatfields WV/Kentucky 1841-1921
I'm looking for info to connect Charles Pemberton (1841-1921)to the notorious Hatfields of Kentucky/W. Virginia. The family story goes as follows.
Charlie Hatfield got into it with a McCoy school teacher and beat him to within an inch of his life.Charlie, thinking that he killed the McCoy, fled to Arkansas to avoid being hanged. When things cleared up a bit and Charlie wrote letters wanting to come home, the family told him not to come for fear that he would be further involved in the feud, which was going on full force at the time.
