This material is catagorically wrong!!! I was naive enough to accept someone elses research. I shared it with three other people in about 2001 and stated that it was not proven. Now it is on GHAT and every where elseand is WRONG!!! Shows the importance of doing your own research and double checking anything you get from someone else.
My current research SEEMS to support the idea that one William Hatfield came to James City VA in 1622 aboard the Southampton. He was a servant to Wm Ferrar and Cecily JOrdan at Jordan's Jorney.By 1638 had patented land for 400 acres and sent to England for 8 persons two of whom were women. He APPEARS to have married one of them, Elizabeth EDES. They had several children one of whom was JOhn born about 1650.
The Bacon Rebellion was building and in 1675 Maryland records show that John transported himself to Maryland and was followed by William in 1676 (he would have been 75 yrs old)The records show that William with wife Elizabeth, dau Elizabeth, and "two other" transported at the same time. William Died in 1678, but Maryland records show his land recorded in 1679. He bought his land from Thomas Collins.
John and Arthur Whitely (b 1654) were business partners in tobacco dealing according to court records.Arthur had a dau Adling Mary Whitely who married John's son JOhn b about 1685. The were married about 1708. John William died 1725 according to will records. Audling Mary is shown as executing his will in 1727 with William Cannon as her husband. This couple were the parents of William John b abt 1709 in Dorchester MD not WALES!!!! and are the founders of the DE Hatfield Line. The did not and are not to myknowledge from Wales unless the first William 1601 came from there, I could not find a place of origin nor from where the Southampton sailed.
I addition, John and Thomas Palamore/Paramore settled in James City at the same time as did William Hatfield 1601.
i.e. 1624.They are shown in the ship records for that area and time period.By about 1650-1665 They are located in Somerset MD.Elizabeth Paramore who married Richard White was NOT born in Kent Co England. She was born in Dorchester MD.
The Richard and William White lines which are also purported to be linked to Kent England are also in error. The White family is in Maryland almost from the very beginning having originated in Flintshire, England. There are many court records to establish this.
By 1742-1748 all of these lines converge.ARthur Whitely (1654) had three wifes. With Joan Rich he had one Arthur Rich Whitely who would have been Adling Mary Whitely Hatfield's younger half brother.Delaware Land records show that John Davis, Peter Lowber (who is shown in one Wm Hatfield's will), Richard and William White and one Allen all acquired land along a road called "Whiteley's Road" which ran from Kent Co DE to Maryland. All five men acquired land which adjoined.John William Hatfield b 1708 was the sixth. (son of William John and Adling Mary Whitely Hatfield)
This John William Md Mary the dau of Wm White. Their son William 1733 in turn married Mary the dau of Richard White and Elizabeth Paramore White. Mary was about 20 yrs younger than her husband.Elizabeth died about 1782 and Richard died in 1794 naming all of his children and their spouses. This concretely documents the connections.
William 1733 and Mary 1753 Hatfield were the parents of Levi, Levin, Wm. Jr., Jonathon, Whitely, Whitely/Wheatley. Nathaniel (not Nathan) Sarah, Mary, and Elizabeth. All are named in his will.
Levib about 1727married Mary Muncey dau of Levi Muncy had sister who married a Garwood according to the Will of Muncey.Whitely b about 1741 according to Militia Records for the Fr and IN war md Rhoda Dale dau of John and Elizabeth McKnight Dale.
I have a great deal more information but don't want to stretch this out anymore.
