William Sherman Hatfield was my father-in-law. Birth and death dates are correct. My husband is the youngest child of William S. and Zelda Mae Wells. My husband is 85 years of age and still going strong. We live about 30 miles from Lincoln at Springfield, IL. There were 5 children in this particular family. Ellnora (deceased at 7 y/o), Dee (deceased at 11 y/o) William Davis Hatfield, lived, born ca. 1915-17,married,died in Minneapolis, Minn. He had 9 sons and 2 daughters. Next was Ethellynn Marie Hatfield, born July 17, 1919. She is still living although in a home for Altzheimer's Patients. She was married to George E. Knowski, and had 2 children. A son, Jack and a daughter, Ethellynn, Jr. Last of all is my husband, Harry Delmar Hatfield. He has 2 daughters living, Martina, in Florida and Linda Jo, in Georgia. He had a son Larry Delmar who was deceased in August of 2005 at age 52.
I am also doing research on Hatfield's. It is very challenging. Most records in Lincoln, IL were destroyed by fire in the early 1900's, when the courthouse burned. I did find John M./Wife Mary, in a city directory of Peoria, IL.
