Just spotted your posting after over a year.
There are no Hatfield's listed in the 923- Hopewell exchange which includes Eureka. Going into the phone listings - http://www.canada411.comhttp://www.canada411.com - I notice there are a "cluster" of Hafields in Pictou County. If you bring up all Hatfield's in NS then short-list the ones with the following phone numbers, you might want to contact them for more info.
396-, 752-, 755-, 922-, 928-, and maybe down the road in Colchester County around Truro (893-, 895-).
Do you know if the Bliss book is still in print or available through inter-library loan ? What family surnames does it cover ?
By the way, the original surname in Holland or Belgium was either HADFELD[E], HETFIELD, or perhaps HETVLEIT according to what others have posted here, so your spelling from England is not unheard of, although the form Hadfield is not very common in the UK or here in North America.
