I too apparently descend from William and Susannah Cottrell North, and am trying to document the Hatcher-Jameson descent. In several rootsweb sites, including one linked to a very comprehensive Hatcher family webpage, Edward Hatcher, Sr. and Jr. are listed, but none of the Martha Hatchers are mentioned as marrying Thomas Cottrell. The first Martha Hatcher married a Gower. The records of St. Peter's Parish in New Kent County show the marriage of "Thomas Cotterell" to "Martha Hacher" on May 25, 1709, but is there any documentation showing her parents? The fact that Martha Hatcher and her second husband, Alexander Pattison, had a son Jameston, is circumstantial evidence Martha may have been a daughter of Edward and Mary Jameson Hatcher, but the above websites do not list her.
