Hi - I'm trying to trace James Keefe and his wife Catherine Hasset(t), who were married at St Joseph's Church in Beechworth, Victoria, Australia on 13 January 1856, to ascertain if they are my great-grandparents. If so, their son was Henry James O'Keefe (my grandfather) born circa 1873, whose birth was said to be registered aat Beechworth, Victoria. He emigrated to New Zealand at age 17 to seek his fortune in the gold rush, but ended up driving four 'n hand (horse-drawn) coaches. I was told that Henry's parents were James O’Keefe & Catherine Hussey, but I have found this marriage record and am wondering whether this is the same couple, i.e. wondering whether her name was actually Hassett not Hussey. Any information, clues or tips would be much appreciated. ... and I can provide further information if you think there may be a connection with your line of Hassetts.
