Joan, I have no specifics on Samuel Hasley except a newspaper account of his murdering one Calvin Clark on Military Road outside Arkadelphia AR in 1870. He had a grudge that stemmed from Bell County TX where Clark had been deputized to assist in "arresting a band of desperadoes." From our oral family history,he was part of the Jesse James gang. I found info that indicated the James gang was indeed in Bell Co TX, so it's possible Hasley is from MO. Am just hoping this story is in someone's Hasley oral family history somewhere. Clark's murder appears to be one of the many that occurred in the South after the Civil War. The 1870's were very "uncivil" years.
