This is really good historical information, thank you for posting it.
My ancestors are also from Queens County, Ireland. My great-great grandfather was Jonathan Haslam, born about 1796/99 in Mountmellick, his wife was Mary Haslem, born 1804/08, Ireland, maiden name possibly Hennesey (brother Michael), their son, my great grandfather was Alfred Haslam, born Feb. 9th or 14, 1840/41, Mountmellick, Queens County. Jonathan immigrated to Canada alone, arrived at New York January 1849, wife Mary and son Alfred immigrated about 1854/55. A son William also immigrated...all to Southern Ontario. It still remains a mystery as to who were all the children of Jonathan and Mary and whick ones immigrated to the new world. If amyone knows this line or can provide any information whatsoever it would most certainly be greatly appreciated.
