Some say it was John. Some say it was a Stephen and some say it was John and that John's full name was John Stephen.
Latest word from some GA Harville descendents is that they think it was James.

Joseph was dead before his mother wrote her will several years before Ellis was born and Samuel's family is fairly well documented.

I don't know which one it was but from many factors it appears that he was a grandson (or possibly great grandson ) of John of Cumberland County and Margaret - .

Margaret appears to have been married three times: First to a Hill, then to John Harvell and then to Ambrose Holladay.

When John made his will, James was apparently old enough that he could have married and had a child old enough to be Ellis' father. Same possibly goes for other children.

Unless some additional information is found this will probably remain an area of speculation.
