Harvey 1881 England/Springhill Nova Scotia
Does anyone know about Harvey's in Springhill, Nova Scotia. My grandmother was a Harvey born there. Her father was Frank Harvey in the 1911 census married to Rose Vance. He was born about 1881 in England and Rose around 1882 in Nova Scotia. But i can only find the 1911 census with him listed. Can not find earlier. Instead there is a Frederick Harvey who is also married to a Rose Vance in Springhill. The latter Rose was the same age as the former Rose yet the Frederick is older being born in 1875. This is puzzling. Unless Frank and Fred are brothers (I don't think they are the same person, age is too different) and they married the same woman...? But adding to the puzzle is Fredrick's father William who is listed as a bricklayer, and I do know from my grandmother that the Harveys came to Londonderry Nova Scotia (near Springhill) to set up a kiln for brickmaking and found the clay not the right consistency for fire brick so the next generation (ie Frank) had to work in the coal mines at Springhill. So these two guys, Frank and Fred seem to be different people at the same time, the same person.
BTW, He had a brother who owned a farm by the old man river in Alberta with a threshing outfit of 40 teams of horses. Also I saw a large old building in Coleman AB near Crowsnest with a large faded sign painted 'Harvey' and I think that's the same family.
Does anyone know about these Harvey's of Londonderry, Springhill and Old Man River Alberta? Thanks
