Patrick Horty, Galway County

I have been trying to trace my great grandfather's lineage but to no avail.
My great grandfather, Patrick Horty, (the name he went by in this country) was born March 10, 1846 in Galway County, Ireland. He came to the United States prior to March 25, 1852 as that is the date he was married in
Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Pat died before I was born but I remember my great grandmother, Mary. They had four sons that lived. My great grandmother went by the name of Horty, two of the sons went by the name of Harty, and my grandfather went by the name of Hardy. They were all horse traders and that is the reason I have been given for them using three different last names. That is why I don't know what our last name should be. Your explanation for the pronunciation of Harty (The Irish for Harty is O'Hartaigh (pronounced "o-hortig"), for males, and NiHartaigh for for females (pronounced "nee-hortig"), in Munster Irish) makes sense to me as I have been told it was O'Horty and my great grandfather left off the "O" when he came to the United States. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. I await a responce, Charles Hardy
