I am searching for info regarding the Hartwigs who resided in Chicago Illinois during the 1800's. My gfather Joseph C.Hartwig b.1880-1890's married Ann McCarthy 1918 in Watertown NY employed working the RR in Watertown
Sister Minnie (married name Chatterson) and possibly brother Harry. Unsure if there were other siblings.
Mother to Joe is Emma Shape or Shope
Father I think was Joseph also. Father Hartwig worked as a china painter in Chicago.Hartwig family appears to have remained in Chicago while Joe moved to Watertown.I do not know the country of origin of the family other than info posted here.
