Arnold Artur Hermann Hartwig is my mother's brother. I believe he came to the US in the 1950's to live with an uncle. My mother believes that he served in the military, maybe Army sometime after his arrival. I am not sure if he even stayed in the US. Wondering if I have any cousins out there? My mother's name is Rosemarie Hartwig, she came to the US in 1968. There was also a sister, Hannelore Hartwig (Herring, maybe) who had a daughter named Susanna. To my knowledge Hannelore never left Germany. When my mother came over she entered on a Polish Visa. Their parents were Arnold Willi(y) Hartwig and Gertrud Pick married 1/23/1936. I have a copy of a document (in German) that my grandfather wrote in 1951. I am told it is a request to leave Germany for US, that was denied. Does this make sense to anyone?
