I have ran into a big snag and hope someone out there can please help me.I have a Johan Karl Pontius born January 12,1800 in Berglangenbach,Germany whom married a Elisabetha Katherina Steinmetz born April 2,1806. They were married on June 9,1825. NOW heres the problem in my research I keep finding her maiden name as Hartwig. On her tombstone her maiden name in Steinmetz. On there son Peters death record in a church book from Washington County Ohio it says his father is Karl Pontius and mother Elisabetha Hartwig. On her death record in the same book it says Elisabetha Hartwig daughter of Peter Hartwig and Elisabetha Steinmetz. I also found a listing for Nicolaus Hartwig born June 24,1811 with the same parents and my Elisabetha. Has anyone out there ever heard of any of these people.IN the LDS files it says Steinmetz on all her childrens records. Is there any way of finding out for sure. This is really messing up my research I dont know whether to research the Steinmetz family or the Hartwig family.Any help with this family would be greatly appreciated.
