Planning a trip to Germany and looking for any relatives of Albert E. Hartwig born 1853 somewhere in Germany (perhaps Hamburg).
He married Emma Summerfield in 1876 (in the US, I believe) and they had 7 children, one of whom was Adwalt Aldolph Hartwig, my Great Grandfather.
Adwalt and Mary Burr married in 1904 Possibly in Mendota, IL and had 13 children. One of the 13 was Royal Aldolph Hartwig, my Grandfather.
Royal A. married Margaret Hill in 1936 and they had 2 children, one of whom was my father Royal James Hartwig.
Royal J. married Winifred Sumner in 1962 (I think) and they had 2 children, one of whom is me and the other is my brother Royal Jay Hartwig. My father had another child from a second marriage, Royal Charles Hartwig. Royal Jay also has a son with the family name-Royal Michael Hartwig.
My Great-Great-Grandfather Albert settled in Illinois where most of the family has remained. No one seems to know where in Germany Albert was born, or exactly when he arrived in the US. If anyone knows of any Hartwigs matching this description, please contact me as I am going to Germany in one month and would like to know where my roots lie in the Hartwig clan.
