He was the son of Earl Lesley or Leslie [listed by different name in 2 different censuses] b. September 20, 1891 in Greenleaf Twp, Sanilac Co, Michigan. Brother of Earl is William A. Hartwick b. May 1, 1873 in Greenleaf Twp. Another brother was Neuman Oswill Hartwick b. July 18, 1885 in Greenleaf twp. [see my post on Michigan Hartwicks]. Their father was Edward Hartwick b. April 7, 1839 in Buck Lake, Ontario married to Harriet or Harriette A. Asher on January 12, 1867 in Newburo, Ontario.
Edward was half-brother to my great grandfather George Gilbert Hartwick. Before marrying my great grandmother Harriet Sophia Pixley he was married to Mary Near. They had a son George b. November, 30 1852 in Frontenac Co, Ontario. George had a son Sherman J. Hartwick born abt 1871 in Canada. In 1923 Sherman lived at 514 Stark Street, Saginaw, Michigan. He was a painter. Sherman had a son Leon Lewis b. May 30, 1899. Leon married Leona Mozader and they also had a son named Sherman J. born abt 1918. George was married to Rosanna Thompson and Sherman's [the one born in 1871]wife's name was Florence.
Does any of this match with your family? I have A LOT MORE if it does. Kermit was my half 2nd cousin once removed. The first Sherman J. was my half first cousin once removed.
