Dinwiddi Co. Virginia Hartwell's

I have been looking for information on my Hartwell connection for years. I am African American and Hartwell is my given name. My Great Grandfather's name was Esau. He also had his name spelled "Issah." There were many African American and Caucasian Hartwell's in the Sapony area of Dinwiddi co. At some point our name changed from "Heartwell to Hartwell, but I don't know when. I'm certain that there is Native American Indian in our our blood line, but I'm not sure of any tribal information. I would love to find family members beyond my Great Grandfather and to see if my family has any connection to the Hartwell's of England. Blessings and Thank You.
