Hello, I have been exploring female lines and finding some new areas to explore. I find that my many-great-grandparents, Isaac Stearns II (1632-1676) and Sarah (Beers) Stearns (1637-1724) were the parents of Abigail Stearns, who married Samuel Hartwell. Their son Ephraim and his wife Elizabeth owned the Hartwell Tavern. I am new to genealogy and I wonder, does that qualify our family of today, as "distant cousins", to join the Hartwell association? I'm not sure how all the many branches on the tree converge to decide on memberships!
