I am the daughter of Mary Elizabeth (Hartwell) Schrum. She was the daughter of James Francis Hartwell and Lena Ellen Campbell Hartwell of Jennings County IN, a brother to Parley. Queen Hartwell was my mothers first cousin. I can remember visiting Queen as a young child. Queen was married to Carl Serep, not real sure of the spelling. They lived here in Indianapolis. I also am trying to find out about the Indian blood. I saw a picture of my Grandfather around 1979 at a cousins house in Columbus. He looked very Indian. My oldest brother looks just like him. My mother once remarked that her father was part Indian. She was very close-mouthed and us kids were not interested at that time. Would also like to find out much more about the Hartwells. The lady at the Vernon cemetery where they are all buried had a wealth of information on them, but she may be dead now. She was 85 when I spoke to her. I believe her name was Ida Cartwright.
