James Madison Hartwell was born in Hillsboro N.H. son of William and Betsy(Wilkins) Hartwell. He was a Preacher and a Physician. He spent 4 yrs. in Johnstown Pa. and removed to northern N.H. He is buried in Colebrook N.H. with his wife Mary E. (On gravestone) and his onyl ch.George who died 7/9.1849 at 3yrs and 2mo. Also in that same grave is an 86yr old woman named Hannah w/o Nathaniel Hale who died 5/23/1881.I don`t know how she is connected to the family unless she was their housekeeper. James marrid a 2nd time after his wife`s death.to a Harriet T. Barker(Moore). She is not buried there. Jim.
