Henry Hartung's tombstone says he was born 16 May 1771 and died 15 Jun 1841. He married Mary Kunkle and they are both buried in the Double Culvert Cemetery at Delaware Station,
Warren County (divided from Sussex County in 1824)New Jersey. He is referred to as Captain Henry Hartung in the 1882 Macomb County, Michigan, History. If anyone has any idea who his parents are or why he is referred to at "Captain," I would certainly be interested in hearing from you. One of his sons answered the 1880 census that both parents were born in New Jersey which may or may not be accurate. Mary Ellen Decker-Bonker has posted a message that a Hartung Family book has been found and she could inform one how to get a copy. My e-mail message to her came back. Anyone knowing how to get a copy of this book, please let me know. marjiann@wcrtc.net
