Joann,
My Father's maternal Grandmother was Mertie Jennings Rider. She was a daughter of a Laura Hartsook and Alvin Jennings who moved from Iowa to live their lives in Smith Center, Kansas. Laura was born in 1848 in what I read from the census record as Indiana.
I have pictures of her husband and several children, her nephew Odie Hartsook, even their house in Smith Center, but very little information of Laura's or Alvin's families.
I would be glad to share what I have and hope to learn more of them from you and the other Forum contributors.
