IT's been some time since I posted on this fourum or thought about this family....I am still stuck on Conrad's wife and parentage--here's what I have...please add, anyone...if you know anything:
Conrad HARTSOCK---Carpenter and Wagonmaker
Arrived on the ship "Priscilla" from the Palatinate in Germany in 1750. Took American Oath 12 Sep 1750, settled in Frederick Co., MD 21 Aug 1761. Sold this land 8 Nov 1773.
From Paula Chodacki, who has posted on this forum before (thanks!): Conrad came to this country from the Palatinate in Germany in 1750, and took the oath of allegiance to the United States of America on September 12, 1750. He was a wagon-maker and woodworker by trade, and settled first in Maryland. He bought land in Frederick Co., Maryland, on August 21,1761, and sold it on November 8, 1773. He then moved with his family to Pennsylvania, locating in the territory now known as Patton Twp., Centre Co., Pennsylvania. He was buried in Meek Cemetery, Patton Twp., Centre Co., Pennsylvania. He was a recognized master at woodworking, and won much admiration and fame for this skill in Bald Eagle Valley. Conrad Hartsock was the father of five children.
*There is brief mention of this in John Blair Linn's "History of Centre & Clinton Cos" about his carpentry skills and his sons.
